Dress to Impress

Our little boy won't be wanting for clothes.  See all these bins--they are full of clothes from 3 months to 3T thanks our friends Aaron and Cassie.  Cassie is pregnant with a girl who will be born in May and since I'm pregnant with a boy--we decided to do a clothing swap.  They have a 3 year old named Max and these are all his clothes--wait..no there are 3 more bins full of clothes that I didn't take a picture of and a whole drawer of shoes and socks.  Needless to say, I don't think that we need to buy any clothes for 3 years.  All the clothes are in pretty great shape, even some with tags still on it--the only exception was a U of A shirt--that went right into the goodwill bag.

So a note to the Kohl's sale loving grandmas---I know it is hard to resist that adorable outfit that is 75% off--but we really don't have much more room.  So even if something is regularly $29.99 and you find it for 5 bucks--consider saving the 5 bucks for his college fund.

Full Term

Well the doctor's appointments just went from boring and uneventful to exciting.  Today I am full term at 37 weeks meaning that if I go into labor they won't stop it--it will be go time. Before today I wouldn't have thought anything about "going early" but the doctor checked my cervix today and I am already 3-4 cm dialated and the doctor said my cervix is also very thin.  She then asked "are your bags packed?" to which I replied "NO"  I still have 7 more days of work and I really need all of them to get done what I need to at work.  But this baby will do what every other baby does--come on his time schedule, not mine.  So I am trying to get all the stuff done.  Next week, the yard is being cleaned on Tuesday, tile and carpet cleaned on Friday.  I still need to make an appointment to get my hair done--so hopefully I will check that off the list tomorrow. We also still need to put the infant car seat in the car (I also need to clean out and wash my car).  So tonight I am washing the cover since it has been sitting in the garage for months, and then we need to re-adjust it for a little infant.  I also need to pack Chloe an overnight bad, just in case, as well as wash the baby's clothes and pack our hospital bag.  There is so much still today and to know that it could happen any minute is freaking me out.  On the other hand I could stay at this level of dialation for weeks.   One thing is for sure---I'm not ready!!!

3 Weeks to Go!

The weekly doctors appointments have begun and remember in the last post when I said that I hadn't had any leg cramps yet--well, that is no longer the case---Yay! another pregnancy symptom.  Other than the "normal" symptoms I'm experiencing everything is going well. My blood pressure is still good, baby's heart rate is good, I'm measuring 37 weeks and I am 36 weeks, so the baby is growing well and is packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He could weigh about 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and may be more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath.

The Ninth Month

OMG it is finally here!  The last month of pregnancy.  The baby is almost full term and I start going to the doctor weekly starting this Friday.  Here is "What to Expect When your Expecting" tells me I should be feeling this month:
  • Changes in fetal activity (more squirming and less kicking)--YES
  • Constipation--Not too much
  • Heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, and bloating--YES
  • Headaches and Dizziness--No
  • Nasal congestion and ear stuffiness--Sometimes
  • Sensitive Gums--YES
  • Leg Cramps at night-No (thank goodness--I had theses with Chloe and literally woke up screaming)
  • Increased backache and heaviness--YES to the heaviness
  • Buttock and pelvic discomfort-No
  • Increased swelling of ankles, feet, hands, and face--YES
  • Itchy abdomen, protruding navel--YES, but my belly button is just flat --so wierd
  • Stretch Mark--Sadly YES
  • Varicose Veins--No
  • Hemorrhods--I don't think so, but I guess I would know it if I did
  • More frequent urination--YES
  • Increased difficulty sleeping--Yes and No--Lately I've been sleeping Ok, but am so tired all the time still
  • Increasing clumsiness and difficulty getting around--Yes
  • Extra fatigue or extra energy (nesting syndrome), or alternating periods of each--YES on the fatigue, I've decided to hire professionals to do the nesting for me.
  • Increase in appetite or loss of appetite--YES on the increase
  • More excitement, more anxiety, more apprehension, and more absentmindedness-YES
  • Relief that you are almost there--No relief still seems a long way off
  • Irritability and oversensitivity--YES if you ask Ami
  • Impatience and restlessness--YES
  • Dreaming and fantasizing about the baby--YES
I have been really bad about taking belly pictures--but here is where we are now!  That's one big belly:
We've also been finishing the nursery.  I made a bulletin board using some of Ami's old baseball, football, and basketball cards.
Ami also hung these box shelves that match the colors of the room.
And we finally built the hutch and put it on top of the dresser, so now we have a changing table for the baby.
There is not too much left to do in the nursery.  It will have a touch of a sports theme as we have decided to hang some sports banners--Ami's Lakers and Dodgers penants, and I ordered a Cardinals penant to hang so he'll grow up at least liking one local team and of course there will be an ASU penant up somewhere.

Movin' and Shakin' : Week 33

Our baby boy is the size of a honeydew this week and may grow up to a full inch this week alone.

His brain is developing like crazy. Pretty soon, he'll be able to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing. Also, his bones are hardening, and he's started to keep his eyes open when he's awake.  He seems to like to be wide awake at 10:30pm at night when my belly starts moving and grooving with elbows, hands, and feet pushing in all directions.  Sometimes it feels as if he is going to burst right out of my belly button.  I can't believe we still have 6 weeks to go  I'm starting to think I will never make it that long. I'm trying to keep myself busy at work and at home trying to turn Chloe's room into a big girl room as well as get the nursery ready.  The waiting game continues for me and the little honeydew!

What to do with the walls

I spent some time tonight putting stuff away in the baby's room and the bare walls and blank slate of ideas in my head are driving me nuts.  I think the theme of the room will be a boy theme....nothing specific like monkeys or sports.  It is kinda like Chloe's room--which is just girly--but I tied it all together with a floral theme--but what do you use to tie it all together for a boy.  I'm starting to think that I'm going to go with the name in some sort of decal or lettering behind the crib and found this decal from Dali Decals.  Don't know what the letter or the name will be so I'll have to wait until after the baby comes to order and install if I decide to go with this.  I think the letter would be in Navy Blue and the name in Olive Green to match the decor of the room.
